Production Update: Delayed by Coronavirus
about 4 years ago – Sun, Feb 09, 2020 at 12:35:14 AM

Hi everyone,

As I'm sure you're aware, the Coronavirus outbreak has raised concerns around the world, especially in China. The result is that the government there extended the New Year holiday and suspended operations at many factories and other businesses in several regions.

What this means for us is that the factory we're working with is being kept closed until February 10th, and then gradually staffed up through the course of February. Our production partner, GPI, estimates that production on Fiasco will be delayed by at least another 2-3 weeks, and possibly longer, pushing completion to April and arrival in our warehouses (after overseas shipment) to May.

We'll ship to all of you when it arrives, and we're hoping you'll have it in hand by early June, but we'll definitely let you know when we have more specific dates and details on that.

If you have an upcoming change of address, feel free to update your account in Backerkit, as we won't pull that shipping information out until closer to the beginning of April.

If you have any questions for us about shipping, our production and shipping partners, or anything else, please feel free to ask!

Cheers,

Steve and the Bully Pulpit Team

The Print Proofs Have Arrived!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Jan 13, 2020 at 10:00:05 PM

It Has That New Game Smell

The proofs have arrived, and Jason and Steve sat down over the weekend to make sure everything is correct. We're really pleased with the results, and the few small issues we've seen should be easily resolved!

We're especially happy with how the decks fit in the box. When you open it, you'll find the four core decks laid out in the vacuum tray. When you lift them, you'll find a spacer underneath, which you can keep or remove to make room for more decks. All told, you'll be able to fit 12 decks into the tray, or up to 16 decks without the tray!

What's Next?

Now that we've given feedback to the printer, we'll get an update on the print schedule and find out when the books will ship from China to the various fulfillment warehouses. We'll be setting up other shipments of add-on products from the U.S. to those same locations so that as soon as Fiasco is in hand, it will be on it's way to you.

Meanwhile, we're moving forward with the form-fillable PDFs and Roll20 files and you'll have those as soon as they're ready.

BackerKit Survey Deadline is This Wednesday!

We'll be locking orders in Backerkit and charging your cards on this Wednesday, January 15th, 2020. If you haven't filled out your survey, or need to make adjustments to your add-ons or card information, please do so before then. We won't lock shipping addresses until we're closer to actually shipping, so you'll be able to update that later if need be.

Thanks as always for your support!

It's Time for BackerKit Surveys!

The Print Files are Done!

At long last we're all done with the print files. We're giving them a last proofing and then sending them off to the printer this week. If everything goes according to plan*, that means we'll be sending out your games to you by late March or early April. We realize this is later than our original plan and we really appreciate your patience.

If this ruins your holiday gift-giving plans, drop us a line and maybe we can help!

*It won't, because that's the physics of plans. But we hope.

The Digital Edition is Next

Now that the print files are put to bed, we've started finishing the digital edition files. The initial print-and-play materials shouldn't take long to complete, so you'll have those soon. The Roll20 and form-fillable PDF files will take a bit longer, but really, what could possibly go wrong?**

** Everything could wrong. We really should know better than to say that out loud.

Backerkit Surveys Invitations Start Today

We will be opening surveys through Backerkit this week! A small percentage of backers will get their surveys first as a "smoke test" that we've set everything up correctly, and then the rest will follow soon after.

You'll get a link emailed to you from Backerkit, so be on the lookout for that. You'll be able to tell us where to send your rewards, along with selecting what Expansion Packs you'd like.

In addition, you'll have the opportunity to choose add-on items from our catalog and we'll ship everything together. We've got the Classic edition of Fiasco and related books, as well as a limited supply of hardcover copies of Durance, Night Witches, and The Warren - all available at special prices as a thank you to backers. There are also digital editions of everything, which we'll fulfill from DrivethruRPG with your Fiasco rewards.

Please Note that we'll be charging for shipping through Backerkit- we'll lock down surveys and charge cards when we are ready to ship your games out- likely in January 2020.

International Shipping

Speaking of shipping, here are the final details for you.

We will be fulfilling international orders through Quartermaster Logistics, who we are excited to partner with on this project for a few reasons:

  • Shipping for the base game will be a little higher than our original estimates, but generally close to what we estimated when adding more weight (expansions, add-ons). We'll be offering our catalog of games at special prices for our backers so that you can take advantage of this!
  • Quartermaster works with local fulfillment partners in each region, including VFI for Asia, Aetherworks for AU/NZ, and either Gamesquest or Spiral Galaxy in Europe. This means we'll be able to offer customs-friendly shipping to EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and  China (as well as other destinations in Asia that VFI ships to).
  • Working with Quartermaster means much better international shipping rates than we could get shipping ourselves from the U.S. We considered many options, and this one worked out best.

U.S. domestic shipping will be handled through Atomic Empire, our local fulfillment partner, as we've done in previous Kickstarter campaigns. They are a great retailer and shipping partner that we very much trust to handle the job.

Canceling Your Pledge?

When we started the campaign, we could only offer estimates on shipping costs and delivery dates. We promised that when the details were finally available, we'd be happy to honor cancellations and refunds. That's still true, so if you find that the shipping costs are too high for you, please let us know and we'll be happy to make it right. We appreciate your support whatever you decide!

Hindsight Really is 20/20

In the grand tradition of Fiasco itself, our timeline was much more ambitious than our ability to get the work done, and we apologize that we won't be able to fulfill the physical game before the end of this year. We thought it would be a straight-forward process, but underestimated how many individual files we'd have to manage (39 at last count) and it's a lot more than we are used to working with on a project. We truly do appreciate your patience and we think it'll be worth the wait.
