Powerful Ambitions, Poor Estimations
over 4 years ago – Sat, Sep 28, 2019 at 02:08:07 AM

Hey everyone!

September is coming to a close, and we've been really busy working on getting Fiasco ready. Unfortunately, my estimates about our project schedule are proving to be too ambitious- we expected to have all the files ready for the printer already and to be able to deliver digital files this month. As it turns out, things got more complicated than planned and so we're still finalizing the print files. That means that we'll be a month or so behind on our delivering the digital files

While I hate having to have to deliver that sort of news, we got a lot of great feedback from you during the campaign that we wanted to make sure we could incorporate into the game, which has slowed us down a bit. Still, we're very happy that we got that feedback, and the final game will be much better for it!

Here are a few updates on things we've been doing:

  • All the playsets have been thoroughly edited and updated and are ready to go, complete with Brennen's logo artwork.
  • The rules have been extensively rewritten with examples, callouts, and illustrations to better explain how to play without getting overly complicated.
  • We've finalized plans with our printer (Grand Prix International) and determined the best way to fit all the decks into the box.
  • We've negotiated with a number of possible fulfillment partners and have almost finalized plans for customs-friendly international shipping.
  • BackerKit (our post-Kickstarter pledge management service) is all set up, so as soon as we finalize shipping, we'll be ready to send out surveys.
  • We've worked out several translation agreements to make the game available in more languages.
  • We've added more characters to our custom font for better internationalization.

Here's a draft of one of the rules illustrations:

The graphics we have left to make are all based on the card layouts that are now finished, so that will go quickly. After that we need to finalize our print layouts and then we'll share the digital versions with you.

So, to summarize, we're behind schedule, and we won't hit our estimated delivery for this month, but we'll have it ready soon and we can't wait to see what you think of it. Thanks for your patience!

Just 2 Hours Left!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 04, 2019 at 07:41:03 PM

It's the last scene, and we're just about ready for the Aftermath! I hope you have some good Outcome cards in hand. We were pretty stoked about the Tilt elements ourselves.

These are both pretty accurate to be honest

You have just two more hours to back or adjust your pledge in Kickstarter. After that, it will take a month or so before we're ready to move everything into BackerKit and send out invitations to for you to fill out surveys and make any further changes to your orders.

See you on the other side- where there definitely isn't a tiger pit. Nope. No tigers here.

Thank You!

So it's finished. We made it! But really we're just getting started.

Bully Pulpit Games is a small company - there's myself and Steve, and Jenn and Brennen, and Karen and Mendez and Alex... oh wait, maybe we're not as small as I think. So deep gratitude to our team who help keep the wheels on the bus and prevent us from showing our ass too often. Thanks to  Brennen for saying "Actually I'm also a talented musician, we can use my music" and Jenn saying "Oh yeah I knew you'd ask so I took care of that a week ago" and Karen's "You are not as good a writer as you think, Morningstar" and Mendez's "Yeah let's not phrase it that way, ever." Alex Roberts mostly lurked in the wings lately, laughing at our foolishness, but even that was helpful.

We really love the new version of the game and we're so proud to get it out in the world. Thank you so much to every backer at every level who wants that, too. Kickstarter allows us to lower our own threshold of risk and inspires us to push a little harder than we might. It's a wonderful tool and we're grateful for your support.

Huge thanks as well to all the generous friends who play-tested this version of the game and gave us advice and feedback over the last few years. There are literally too many to count, and we couldn't have gotten here without you all.

In a lot of ways our work is just beginning, but the end result is going to be fantastic! We can't wait to get it into your hands for you to cause your own trouble with.

Things are going to get quiet around here for a little while as we button down the details, but we'll be in touch in a month or so with updates about the printing progress and BackerKit details.

One last thing: We're square with Joel. At least we've paid off the interest and that's basically the same as being square, right? I mean what could possibly go wrong?
